The Spike+ side pickup is specially designed to work with Spike Brewing's Spike+ line of kettles. The dual 1.5" TC flange allows the pickup tube to attach to the kettle and have a valve or other 1.5" TC accessory attached to the outside. They use 5/8" tubing which flows up to 4x better than their competitors 1/2" size. Recommend Uses: Boil Kettle - Create a whirlpool inside your kettle so hop material collects in the center of the lower stepped section. The side pickup will drain clear wort from the side, above the stepped bottom, avoiding the hop and trub material which has settled. 2" TC Butterfly Valve
Spike Brewing conicals come equipped with this 100% sanitary 2” TC butterfly valve. This valve has a squeeze locking/trigger handle that allows for 180 degrees of motion and 13 locking positions.The butterfly valve is the preferred valve for the cold side of brewing instead of ball valves. These butterfly valves have no pockets or crevices for bacteria to hide in. Ball valves can trap liquid between the seals in the internal ball when opening and closing the valve.The handle is a special 'shorty' style which keeps a compact design. This handle is made from extremely durable glass reinforced Nylon which is much lighter than metal handles. Carb Stone
If you didn't already know the Spike Conical is a unitank! This means it is designed to handle pressures up to 15psi. This capability allows you to add 15psi of pressure needed to carbonate your beer before transferring to your keg. This will reduce carbonation times from upwards of a week down to less than 24hrs. Spike Brewing's carb stone is designed to attach to the outside of the racking port butterfly valve. This means the carb stone can be installed when you need it and won't be sitting inside the tank during the entire fermentation process. This eliminates the chance for the stone to become clogged. It also has a protective stainless housing which prevents damaging the very brittle 'stone'. Made from high quality 304 Stainless Steel, this condenser lid is ideal for apartment or basement brewers who struggle managing steam and condensation during brewday. Easy to use and assemble, can be used with a wide range of configurations. Comes with removable end cap for adding hops, yeast nutrient or whirlfloc during the boil. (Use gloves, it will be hot!). This steam condenser set can be compatible with the 35L or 65L BrewZilla/DigiBoil with the stainless distillation lid and 2 Inch Bulkhead. This unit can allow brewing indoors without that pesky sticky steam gumming up your freshly painted interior! The End Cap can be removed for brewing salts/hops and other brewing essentials to be added during the boil. Please note hot steam through this port can lead to serious scalding, please use heatproof gloves. Not only will you get to the boil faster, but you will use less power overall to maintain a rolling boil as there will be less area for the heat to escape. No need to install inside a kitchen, or in the garage with a special range hood. Simply attach this to the Condenser Lid and run your kitchen tap or garden hose to the Duotight-compatible inlet. You don't not need super-fast flow rate to cool boiling steam into liquid. Different to distillation where you require the distillate to be under a certain temperature so that ethanol doesn't evaporate from the liquid at a high rate, with boiling wort you just need enough to form a liquid! Pretty simple. Eco-Friendly option if you have the means to save/collect the coolant water. Can be re-used on the garden or for cleaning later on. Please note the water discharging will be very hot! The Spray head can condense 0.42 gal (1.6 L) per minute while connected to 100 psi mains water. Caution: You will need to remove the Steam Condenser when you reach boil to manage the hot break and ensure you don't have a boil over when you reach boiling temperatures.
