Spike Brewing conicals come equipped with this 100% sanitary 2” TC butterfly valve. This valve has a squeeze locking/trigger handle that allows for 180 degrees of motion and 13 locking positions.The butterfly valve is the preferred valve for the cold side of brewing instead of ball valves. These butterfly valves have no pockets or crevices for bacteria to hide in. Ball valves can trap liquid between the seals in the internal ball when opening and closing the valve.The handle is a special 'shorty' style which keeps a compact design. This handle is made from extremely durable glass reinforced Nylon which is much lighter than metal handles. If you didn't already know the Spike Conical is a unitank! This means it is designed to handle pressures up to 15psi. This capability allows you to add 15psi of pressure needed to carbonate your beer before transferring to your keg. This will reduce carbonation times from upwards of a week down to less than 24hrs. Spike Brewing's carb stone is designed to attach to the outside of the racking port butterfly valve. This means the carb stone can be installed when you need it and won't be sitting inside the tank during the entire fermentation process. This eliminates the chance for the stone to become clogged. It also has a protective stainless housing which prevents damaging the very brittle 'stone'. Teflon gasket with 304 stainless mesh screen for 4" tri-clamp connections. Can be used as a filter screen to trap large particulates passing through T.C. fittings. Often used for distillation to retain activated carbon for filtering neutral spirits or used in pot distillation to retain botanicals in the vapor stream. The screen has a mesh size of 7 which will block particles larger than 2.83mm or 2830 microns. This slightly larger mesh size makes this screen ideal for use in a distillation basket. Spike Brewing's proprietary fittings uses quick connect technology. The quick connect fitting simply hand screws into the kettle and the pickup tube easily pushes in/pulls out; no tools needed. Recommend Uses: Boil Kettle - Create a whirlpool inside your kettle so hop material collects in the center of the lower stepped section.
