Description
Breeding/Development: Germany. Bred from Hallertau Mittelfrüh and Spalt for disease resistance, German Select was released in 1991 by the Hop Research Center of Hüll and quickly became very popular with German brewers.
Brewing Application: Aroma. Almost as highly regarded as Mittelfrüh in its homeland, Select’s excellent sensory profile - in much the same vein as Spalt, Tettnang, and Saaz - elevates any traditional lager, cold-fermented ale, Weissbier, or Belgian style. Exquisite as a feature in Pils.
Sensory: Spicy, flowery, and hoppy with prominent undertones of ripe berry and citrus. Spice and wood character reminiscent of Spalt and Saaz. Powerful impressions but with great finesse.
